Great podcast show! We've been recommending The China Study to our clients and listeners for many years. It really is one of the most important nutrition books out there today in my opinion.

I agree, but when the obese person is a parent, that person has control over his or her child or children that is virtually complete. If your mother or father demands you feed him or her and you say "no" then you have to deal with the verbal and maybe even physical abuse that may result. Children are conditioned at early ages to obey their parents, and it's almost impossible for a child to develop resistance to parental pressure. Ask any child who has been browbeatern by a "normal" parent to take dance lessons or play a sport he or she no longer wants to play, for example. Ironically, children who disobey their overbearing parents are viewed as rebellious and troubled in the majority of situations. It would take a very rebellious, angry, self-directed, and independent child to leave a morbidly obese, bedridden parent to lie in his or her own waste, wailing for food all day long.

I have always wondered about that too. I was watching Ruby on the Style Network, and she said something about how she never cooks, and she doesn't fit behind the wheel of a car, so someone has to cook for her or drive her to get fast food whenever she wants it. They all talk about how manipulative she is and how they just want to make her happy, and then they villify her ex-boyfriend because he tries to help her lose weight. When someone is that size, the loving thing to do is tell the truth and say no, not participate in the person's self-destruction.

Hello Jean,
Very informative! If you are looking to get rid of those annoying red ants (I am also a resident of Florida) then sprinkle Corn Meal around the mound and those silly red ants will be gone within the week.

I agree with the statement about how you eventually come off the diet, so naturally, your body will revert to its former state.
A diet would work best, in my opinion, if it was - rather than an abrupt change - a gradual change. don't cut out everything bad at once, simply work your way up, so it doesn't FEEL like you are limiting yourself. By the time you get the healthy point you desire, it won't even feel like you had to restrict yourself.
Just some tidbits I picked up over years of reading health magazines :]

I suspect that due to the nature of the offering most people that complete the order think they are making a one-time payment and do not realize that they are going to be rebilled on an ongoing basis. A contract entered this way cannot be said to be made using reasonable commercial standards of fair dealing and therefore is not binding.

In the 80's i lived in Oregon and i think we were a test market for a larger Big Gulp...my brother and I would get the "family fun gulp" and it was an actual Bucket like you take to the beach - it had a plastic handle and if i remember correctly it came with a shovel...i've never seen them since and don't remember how much it held, but i'd guess 128 ounces...

I have to say I was scammed too. I was under the impression I was suppose to call them and let them know I would like to continue to receive the Biolab antiwrinkle cream but I was wrong. I just noticed 2 charges in my bank account for 89.53 (12/11/09 & 12/22/09) and what I found unusual is one came from Sup*Colon Cleans with this phone number 866-276-7906 and the other was YoutHealth without a phone number. So I decided to call the company because I didn't know for what I was being charged.
When I called I had no idea who I was calling and they didn't tell me the name of the company until I gave them my name, address and phone number.
It was my fault for not reading the small letters (which is where they get you) the problem I have is the name of the company they used when withdrawing money from my bank account. This is fraud. I asked them I wanted an e-mail confirmation that I was canceling and they said they couldn't do that, to just write the RMA number outside the box when I returned the product. I'm really concern they won't stop charging me $89.53/month and since there is no paper trail it's my word against theirs.
I'll never order a product unless I research the company and don't take things for free because it will cost you. Nothing is free these days.
